Recommendation Concerning Budget Amendment #093 - Stephan Hall, Management and Budget Services Interim Department Director
That the Board approve Budget Amendment #093, Internal Service Fund (501), in the amount of $12,500, to appropriate funds for the final annual leave payout to the retiring Fuel Distribution Supervisor. On August 21, 2014, the policy regarding the Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP) was revised to allow retiring employees to also sell additional accumulated annual leave at the end of their DROP period, as a result the payout wasn't budgeted for Fiscal Year 2014/2015. Funds will be placed into personnel from operating, there is no net change in the Cost Center Budget.
BACKGROUND:
The current Fuel Distribution Supervisor will be retiring in July 2015, and is in the Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP). At the time he entered DROP, he received the one-time payout of annual leave that was allowed by the policy governing DROP participants' leave payouts. On August 21, 2014, the policy was revised to allow retiring employees to also sell additional accumulated annual leave at the end of their DROP period. Funds for the Fuel Distribution Supervisor's final payout at the end of his DROP period were not originally budgeted, so funds must be transferred to Salaries to cover the payout. Funds are available within the operating accounts of the cost center that his leave will be paid from, therefore there will be no net change to the cost center or fund balance.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
This amendment will increase personnel funds and decrease operating funds in the amount of $12,500.
