RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning Approval of the Settlement and Release of Claims for the Terry Dennis Rigby Inventory Dispute.
That the Board take the following actions:
A. Approve the settlement reached for the sum of $10,000.00 to be paid to Terry Dennis Rigby's surviving spouse, Sherri Rigby, in exchange for the execution of a Release of Claims; and
B. Approve the Release of Claims entered into by Sherri Rigby.
BACKGROUND:
Terry Dennis Rigby was previously employed as a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor in the Waste Services Department. On October 4, 2019, Mr. Rigby retired from employment with the County. Upon separation from County employment, Mr. Rigby informed the County that during his tenure in the Waste Services Department he had intermingled hundreds of his personal work tools with the County's work tools. Due to the number and character of the items of inventory in dispute, the County and Mr. Rigby worked to resolve this dispute for several weeks after Mr. Rigby's separation from County employment. The County was continuing to work with Mr. Rigby to resolve this inventory dispute at the time of Mr. Rigby's passing on February 10, 2020.
