MINUTES
ESCAMBIA COUNTY EXTENSION COUNCIL
November 29, 2016–5:30 p.m.
Langley Bell 4-H Youth Center

1.   Call to Order & Opening Remarks - Pat Bush, Chairwoman

Meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm.
             
2.   Roll Call & Declaration of Quorum - Susan Hendrix

Roll was called and a quorum was declared.

Members Present: Jean Yarter, Karen Hall, David Fitzpatrick, Tammy Penegar, Tina Lynn Sellers, Jerry Patee, Genevieve English-Charles, Pat Bush, and Comr. Steven Barry.

Members Absent: Gary Purvis, Jerry Drinkard, Christine Rodgers, and Janice Kilgore.
             
3.   Proof of Publication - Susan Hendrix

The meeting was properly advertised in the Pensacola News Journal on November 26, 2016, as part of the Board of County Commissioners' Weekly Meeting Schedule.
             
4.   Approval of Minutes from August 31, 2016, Extension Council Meeting - Pat Bush, Chairwoman

Motion made by David Fitzpatrick and seconded by Jerry Patee to accept the Minutes from the August 31, 2016, Council Meeting as provided. Motion passed without opposition.
             
5.   Welcome and Introduction of Special Guest(s) - Pat Bush, Chairwoman
             
6.   Appreciation to Members rotating off Extension Council - Pat Bush, Chairwoman

David Fitzpatrick Zone 4
Tina Lynn Sellers Zone 8
Genevieve English-Charles Zone 10
Janice Kilgore Zone 12

Chairwoman Bush expressed her appreciation for the service of those members rotating off the Council.
             
7.   Items for Discussion - Pat Bush, Chairwoman

No other discussion items were presented.
             
8.   4-H Agent Candidate Interviews
  • Brian Estevez
  • Alyssa Schortinghouse

Mr. Estevez and Ms. Schortinghouse each made presentations to the Council. After each presentation, a question/answer session was held with each candidate by the Council members. The candidates then left the room. The Council members then held open discussion.
             
9.   Evaluation of Prospective Employees - Ballot Voting

Council members voted by ballot on each candidate. Ballots were then counted by Susan Hendrix and Libbie Johnson. Both candidates received 100% affirmative votes.

Motion made by Karen Hall and seconded by Jerry Patee for the Board of County Commissioners to extend offers to Alyssa Schortinghouse for the position of 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent I, II, or III/Livestock-Ag; and to Brian Estevez for the position of 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent II, III, or IV/Youth Coordinator. The motion passed without opposition.
             
10.   Adjournment

Motion to adjourn at 6:27 pm made by Tina Lynn Sellers and seconded by David Fitzpatrick. Motion passed without opposition.
