RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Memorandum of Agreement with the University of West Florida for Public Transportation Service - Tonya Ellis, Mass Transit Department Director

That the Board take the following action concerning the Memorandum of Agreement with the University of West Florida (UWF), relating to Public Transportation services at the UWF Campus and surrounding area:

A. Approve the Memorandum of Agreement between Escambia County and the University of West Florida, relating to Public Transportation services at the UWF Campus and surrounding area; and

B. Authorize the Chairman to sign the Memorandum of Agreement.

[Funding: UWF will reimburse the County for all operating, maintenance and administrative costs]

BACKGROUND:

For the last several years, UWF and ECAT have cooperatively arranged for transportation service on the UWF Campus and surrounding area during the school year. The service operates on the main campus and one route operates on and around the main campus with service along 9 Mile Road to neighboring shopping centers. The term of the Agreement will commence on July 1, 2020, and will expire on June 30, 2021.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

UWF will reimburse the County for all operating, maintenance and administrative costs.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

Kristin Hual, Senior Assistant County Attorney, reviewed and approved the Memorandum of Agreement as to form and legal sufficiency.

PERSONNEL:

No change in personnel results from this action.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

Board policy requires Board approval of all Memorandum of Agreement.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Upon Board approval, Mass Transit staff will coordinate with UWF to continue providing the current service.
