RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Purchase of Ten Tri-Axle Dump Trucks - Wes Moreno, Public Works Department Director

That the Board approve and authorize the County Administrator to sign a purchase order for the purchase of 10 Mack GR64F Dump Trucks equipped with 16'/21 yard Logan Elliptical tub style bodies from Gulf Coast Truck & Equipment, at a price of $158,316 each/$1,583,160 for 10.

BACKGROUND:

The Public Works Department has a fleet of 28, 2007 model Mack Dump Trucks. These trucks are high mileage and carry an average maintenance cost of $26,000 per truck. The purchase of these ten Mack GR64F trucks will allow for the surplus of ten of the most high maintenance trucks at a guaranteed price of $55,000 per truck. Escambia County Fleet will not incur any maintenance or repair cost for the first 36 months. Additionaly, the County is guaranteed 90% ($142,484.40) of the purchase price should the County decide to roll these trucks in the 13th month of ownership.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

$1,583,160 from Fund 175, Transportation Trust Fund, Cost Center 56401

All work associated with this Recommendation was done in-house, no additional staff was required.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

This Recommendation is in compliance with the Code of Ordinances of Escambia County, FL 1999 Chapter 46, Finance, Article II, Purchases and Contracts.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

The Office of Purchasing will issue the Purchase Order.
