RECOMMENDATION: |
Recommendation Concerning the First of Two Possible Renewals for Collection and Disposal Services for Household Hazardous Waste - Pat Johnson, Waste Services Department Director, and Paul Nobles, Purchasing Manager, Office of Purchasing
That the Board approve the first of two possible one-year renewals, retroactive to February 7, 2020, between Escambia County, Florida and Perma-Fix of Florida, Inc., per the terms and conditions of PD 18-19.010, Collection and Disposal of Household Hazardous Waste, providing for the collection and disposal of hazardous waste materials from County households, on an as-needed basis, authorizing an annual amount of $200,000.

BACKGROUND: |
The Perdido Landfill operates a Household Hazardous Waste Program which receives hazardous materials from resident of Escambia County. Once received by the County, the materials are then separated by type, packaged, and manifests are created. The packaged materials are then transported by the awarded vendor to a permitted Treatment and Disposal Facility.
The legal advertisement for this Invitation to Bid was published in the Pensacola News Journal on December 3, 2018. Bids were received from four firms on January 17, 2019. Perma-Fix of Florida, Inc., was determined to be the lowest, most responsible bidder. |

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION: |
This Recommendation is in compliance with the Code of Ordinances of Escambia County, FL 1999, Chapter 46, Finance, Article II Purchases and Contracts. |
IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION: |
The Office of Purchasing will notify the vendor of the renewal. The Waste Services Department shall continue to serve as the Contract Administrator for this project. |
