RECOMMENDATION:

5:33 p.m. Public Hearing to consider adopting an Ordinance amending the Escambia County Code of Ordinances, Volume 1, Chapter 74, Article II, Section 74-36(18) of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances relating to rules and regulations applicable to persons using the beach.

Recommendation: That the Board adopt an Ordinance amending Volume 1, Chapter 74, Article II, Section 74-36(18) of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances relating to rules and regulations applicable to persons using the beach to replace all references to the Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) with Escambia County and delete any references to the SRIA’s Executive Director.

BACKGROUND:

Effective October 1, 2015, Escambia County assumed responsibility for public works and public safety functions on Santa Rosa Island and assumed exclusive ownership and control of all public facilities of the Santa Rosa Island Authority. The proposed Ordinance will amend Section 74-36(18) relating to rules and regulations applicable to persons using the beach to replace all references to the Santa Rosa Island Authority with Escambia County and delete any references to the SRIA's Executive Director.
