RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning the Agreement between the First Judicial Circuit of Florida and Escambia County for the Existing Veterans Court Coordinator Position - Will Moore, Trial Court Administration, Chief Deputy Court Administrator

That the Board take the following action concerning the Agreement between the First Judicial Circuit of Florida and Escambia County for the Existing Veterans Court Coordination Position:

A. Approve the Agreement for the Funding of Court Personnel between the First Judicial Circuit of Florida and Escambia County, Florida, for the existing Veterans Court Coordinator Position as outlined in Exhibit "A"; and

B. Authorize the Chairman to sign the Agreement.

[The County agrees to provide funding for the existing Veterans Court Coordinator Position through Court Innovation Article V, Local Option portion of the $65 Court Fee according to Florida Statute 939.185(1)(a); whereas the Court agrees to reimburse the County for salary and benefits not to exceed the amounts outlined in Exhibit "A"]
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of the agreement is to fund the existing Veterans Court Program position under the County's provisions providing 40 hours per week salary and all applicable benefits, to include but not limited to additional holiday pay, FICA, life and health insurance and retirement, effective July 1, 2016. The Court agrees to reimburse the County for salary and employment benefits costs as outlined in Exhibit A.

The Veterans Court Program is a specialized court established to serve veterans struggling with treatable behavioral, mental, or chemical health problems as a result of trauma experienced while serving in a combat zone. The Veterans Court Coordinator oversees veterans case files, coordinates mentoring sessions, ensures smooth operation and implementation of tasks for the entire program.
