| RECOMMENDATION: |
Recommendation Concerning Change Order #1 for Southern Light, LLC, for Ethernet Services to the West Florida Library System - Shawn P. Fletcher, Information Technology Director
That the Board approve and authorize the County Administrator to execute the following Change Order for the Blanket Purchase Order to Southern Light, LLC, for Ethernet Services to the West Florida Library System. The requested increase is due to circuit upgrades for two locations - Century Library and connection of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to the Main Library.

| BACKGROUND: |
The first upgrade was for the data connection between the Escambia County Public Safety facility and the Escambia County Main Library. It is an increase of ten times the previous speed in order to provide better access to the servers, business systems, and Internet housed in the Public Safety building. In the future, this connection will also provide the filtered public Internet access for all of the libraries. The cost is increased to $1,283 per month from $996 per month, which is a net increase of $3,444 per year.
The second upgrade is for the connection between the Century Library and the Main Library. This upgrade is an increase of approximately one hundred times faster than the previous connection, providing better access to the servers, business systems, and Internet housed in the Public Safety building. This connection is also used to provide increased Internet speeds to the public computers and the privately owned computers accessing the Internet through the publicly available wireless network. The previous connection was provided by AT&T for $1,214.53 per month. The new connection is provided by Southern Light, LLC for $762 per month. This is an annual net saving of $5,430.36. |
