RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Purchase of One Tractor Towed Hydraulic Cleaning Machine for Santa Rosa Island Public Works - Joy D. Blackmon. P.E., Public Works Department Director

That the Board authorize the County to utilize the GSA Contract #GS-30F-0038V and award a Purchase Order to H. Barber & Sons, Inc., in the amount of $51,352.64, for the purchase of one 2016 Tractor Towed Hydraulic Cleaning Machine, Barber Surf Rake, Model 600HD (S600HD) with selected options, according to the specifications of VE 15-16.008.

The Office of Purchasing posted the request on the Escambia County Website for 30 days, with no responses.

BACKGROUND:

This hydraulic cleaning machine, upon purchase, will replace an older model Cherrington 4500XL in the current fleet, which will be auctioned as surplus. This new unit will enhance the beach cleaning program of the Santa Rosa Island Public Works Division.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

Funds are available in Fund 001, "General Fund", Cost Center 211401, Object Code 56401.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

This recommendation is in compliance with the Escambia County, FL Code of Ordinances, Chapter 46, Article II, Section 46-44, Application; exemptions; and Section 46-64, Board approval, and Award a Purchase Order.

In an effort to encourage competition from local businesses and in compliance with Board adopted policy, this purchase was advertised on the County's website for 30 days beginning March 10, 2016. There were no responses.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Upon Board approval, the Office of Purchasing will issue a Purchase Order.
