RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Purchase of One Street Sweeper for Santa Rosa Island Public Works - Joy D. Blackmon, P.E., Public Works Department Director

That the Board authorize the County to utilize the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) Contract #022014-FSC and award a Purchase Order to Sansom Equipment Company, in the amount of $172,110.30, for One 2016 Elgin Broom Badger Sweeper for the Santa Rosa Island Public Works Division, according to the specifications of VE 15-16.011.

The Office of Purchasing posted the request on the Escambia County Website for 30 days, with no additional responses.

BACKGROUND:

This street sweeper vehicle, upon purchase, will replace an older Elgin Pelican Sweeper model in the current fleet, which will be traded in on the new unit. This new unit will facilitate the continuation of the street/parking area sweeping program of the Santa Rosa Island Public Works Division.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

Funds are available in Fund 001, "General Fund", Cost Center 211401, Object Code 56401.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

This recommendation is in compliance with the Escambia County, FL Code of Ordinances, Chapter 46, Article II, Section 46-44, Application; exemptions; and Section 46-64, Board approval, and Award a Purchase Order.

In an effort to encourage competition from local businesses and in compliance with Board adopted policy this purchase was advertised on the County's website for 30 days beginning March 23, 2016. There were no additional responses.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

The Office of Purchasing will issue a Purchase Order upon approval.
