RECOMMENDATION:

5:49 p.m. - A Public Hearing Concerning the Issuance of a Recycling Permit for a New Recycling Facility Located at 7470 N. Palafox, Owned by Delta Contractors

That the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) review and approve, modify, or deny the issuance of a recycling permit for a new crushing/recycling facility located at 7470 N. Palafox, owned by Delta Contractors.

BACKGROUND:

The site is the old Sikes Pipe Facility which manufactured concrete pipe and concrete structures. The old building at the site has been demolished, but the concrete slabs remain from the original site. The site is 5.78 acres in size and abuts the I-10 right of way at North Palafox.

Delta Contractors, Inc. proposes to use the site to stockpile crushed concrete and perform crushing operations on the site. The recycled concrete will be sold for use in road building and stabilizing roadways as a base a material.

The Development Order (DO) for Delta Contractors Recycling was approved on April 6, 2016, contingent upon the review for the authorization or denial of the Recycling Facility Permit at the aforementioned location.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

No budgetary impact is anticipated by the issuance of this Permit.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

The County Attorney's Office has reviewed the Permit for form and legal sufficiency by legal sign-off.

PERSONNEL:

N/A

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

This recommendation is consistent with the Board of County Commissioners' mission statement: "To provide efficient, responsive services that enhance our quality of life, meet the common needs, and promote a safe and healthy community."

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Following approval of this recommendation, a Permit shall be issued and distributed accordingly.
