RECOMMENDATION:

5:47 p.m. - A Public Hearing Concerning the Issuance of a Recycling Permit for an Existing Recycling Facility Located at 2390 Longleaf Drive, Sunbelt Crushing, LLC

That the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) review and approve, modify, or deny the issuance of a recycling permit for a pre-existing crushing/recycling facility located at 2390 Longleaf Drive, owned by Sunbelt Crushing, LLC ("Sunbelt").

BACKGROUND:

The facility is owned by Sunbelt Crushing, LLC (“Sunbelt”). Based upon the information reviewed, it appears that Sunbelt has been in operation at 2390 Longleaf Drive since 2003. Sunbelt Concrete Recycling facility provides storage and processing for waste concrete generated at construction sites throughout Escambia County. As needed, a portable crusher is operated at the site to crush the concrete. The crushed concrete is stored on site and sold as road base, foundation base, etc. During the crushing process, rebar in the concrete is collected and shipped to a recycling center.

The Development Order for Sunbelt Concrete Recycling Facility was approved on March 16, 2016, contingent upon the review for authorization or denial of the Recycling Facility Permit at the aforementioned location.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

No budgetary impact is anticipated by the issuance of this Permit.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

The County Attorney's Office has reviewed the Permit for form and legal sufficiency by legal sign-off.

N/A

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Following approval of this recommendation, a Permit shall be issued and distributed accordingly.
