Recommendation Concerning the Request for Funding for the Annual Beautillion - Lumon J. May, County Commissioner, District 3

That the Board consider the request by 100 Black Men of Pensacola, Inc., for $1,000, to be funded from Commissioner Lumon May's 4th Cent Tourist Development Tax Fund, to support the Annual Beautillion, an event where the young men being trained by the group's "Tomorrow's 100" Leadership Development Program, are presented to the Pensacola community, and approve a Purchase Order for this purpose.

BACKGROUND:
Chartered in 1991 as a chapter of 100 Black Men of America, Inc., 100 Black Men of Pensacola, Inc., has a leadership role in improving the quality of life in the community.  The flagship of the organization's mentoring efforts in Pensacola is their "Tomorrow's 100" Leadership Development Program for high school seniors, which has the objective of providing a constructive educational, cultural, civic, recreational, and social program for the young men of the community in preparation for their next life challenges.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
The Board placed $250,000 in the 4th Cent Tourist Development Tax reserves in Fiscal Year 2014-2015 for the Board to allocate for special event requests and other tourist promotion activities.  Commissioner May did not allocate all of his money and requested that the remaining balance be rolled over into Fiscal Year 2015-2016.
