RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning Construction of the Walnut Hill Community Center Walking Path - Michael E. Rhodes, Parks and Recreation Department Director

That the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the School Board of Escambia County, Florida, and the Escambia County, Florida, Board of County Commissioners for the construction of the Walnut Hill Community Center Walking Path.

BACKGROUND:

Meeting in regular session on November 17, 2015, the School District of Escambia County, Florida, approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the School Board of Escambia County, Florida, and the Escambia County, Florida, Board of County Commissioners for the construction of the Walnut Hill Community Center Walking Track. The School Board grants the county permission to use the property for development of a recreational walking track to serve the Walnut Hill Community, for public recreational purposes only, that are not disruptive to activities and programs of the adjoining Ernest Ward School, the area known as Walnut Hill Ruritan Club and/or Walnut Hill Community Center, located at 7650 Highway 97, Walnut Hill, FL 32568.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

The MOU will not have a budgetary impact on the county.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

The MOU was reviewed and approved as to legal sufficiency by Meredith D. Crawford, Assistant County Attorney.

PERSONNEL:

N/A

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

Board Policy requires that documents such as these be approved by the Board.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Oversight and any potential implementation of the MOU will be coordinated by Michael E. Rhodes, Director, Parks and Recreation Department.
