Recommendation Concerning Support for an Amendment to the United States Constitution - Grover C. Robinson, IV, District 4 Commissioner

That the Board adopt the Resolution Supporting an Amendment to the United States Constitution to Reverse the Decision of the United States Supreme Court in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission and support "Move to Amend".

BACKGROUND:

“Move to Amend” is requesting the support of Escambia County in their efforts to amend a portion of the United States constitution pertaining to elections and confirm that corporations are not people. They are attempting to reverse the ruling of the United States Supreme Court in the case of “Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.” In this decision the Supreme Court ruled that corporations are persons, entitled by the United States Constitution to unlimited contributions for elections. “Move to Amend” believes this decision disrupts the democratic process by granting disproportionate influence to individuals who can manipulate corporate entities.
