RECOMMENDATION:

5:34 p.m. Public Hearing for consideration of adopting an Ordinance amending the Dog Parks on Pensacola Beach Ordinance.

Recommendation: That the Board adopt an Ordinance amending Volume 1, Chapter 10, Article 1, Section 10-25, of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances, to extend the sunset provision regarding dog parks on Pensacola Beach.

BACKGROUND:

At its June 25, 2015 meeting, the Board approved setting the Public Hearing for consideration of amending the Dog Parks on Pensacola Beach Ordinance.

Section 10-25 of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances establishes dog parks on Pensacola Beach. This section contains a sunset clause which will automatically repeal the ordinance, unless it is reviewed and saved from repeal through reenactment by the Board. This section is scheduled to expire July 23, 2015. The amended ordinance will extend the sunset provision in Section 10-25 related to dog parks on Pensacola Beach for four years.

The proposed Ordinance was drafted by Assistant County Attorney, Meredith D. Crawford. The Ordinance was advertised in the June 27, 2015, edition of the Pensacola News Journal.
