RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning the Marine Resources Philanthropic Naming Rights Opportunity Plan for the Naming of Artificial Reefs Owned by Escambia County - Keith T. Wilkins, Community & Environment Department Director

That the Board adopt and authorize the Chairman to sign the Resolution approving the Marine Resources Philanthropic Naming Rights Opportunity Plan for the naming of artificial reefs owned by Escambia County.
BACKGROUND:
Escambia County owns approximately 195 artificial reefs in the Gulf of Mexico and Pensacola Bay. Many of the artificial reefs have not been named, therefore, providing opportunities for naming in accordance with the Escambia County Philanthropic Naming Rights and Business Sponsorship Policy. The Escambia County Community & Environment Department has drafted the Marine Resources Philanthropic Naming Rights Opportunity Plan for the naming of existing and future artificial reefs. Funds generated by the Plan will be utilized to fund additional artificial reef construction, monitoring and permitting.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
[Fund 101, Restricted Fund, Revenue Account 366004]
Funds generated through implementation of the Marine Resources Philanthropic Naming Rights Opportunity Plan will be deposited in the Escambia County Aquatic Resources Stewardship Endowment Fund.
 
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:
The Resolution was drafted and approved as to form and legal sufficiency by Meredith Crawford, Assistant County Attorney.
PERSONNEL:
No additional personnel are required for the implementation of the Resolution.
POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:
Board Policy I.A.6 requires that Resolutions be adopted by the Board.
IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:
Escambia County Community & Environment Department, Marine Resources Division, will implement the Marine Resources Philanthropic Naming Rights Opportunity Plan.
