BACKGROUND:
The Department of Community Affairs I partnership with the Children's Home Society of Florida YouthWorks is hosting a Youth Resource Expo on Monday, March 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Marie K Young/Wedgewood Community Center.  The purpose of this Expo is to connect youth in our community to resources that will help them to be successful.
In March of 2014, the Department partnered with Children's Home Society in the Breaking Barriers Real Talk Conference for at risk youth in our community.  Over 150 youth and many others participated in identifying some of the barriers youth in our community are facing and how we can work together to break those barriers.  Fortunately, the community of Escambia County provides many services that youth are seeking and the intent of the Youth Resource Expo will link them to community resources and providers.  It was anticipated that this would be a small to medium event, but as of  March 11, 2015, there are 70 community programs that have confirmed to participate in the Expo which is larger than anticipated and is good news for the youth in our community.  Vendors participating are donating to the event at their individual booths.

Because of the new anticipated numbers of youth that will attend and vendor participation, a request is being made to the Board to purchase more refreshments for the attendees.  The offering will be hot dogs, chips, and a drink.
