RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning a Resolution Designating the Chief Correctional Officer of Escambia County, Florida - Jack R. Brown, County Administrator

That the Board adopt and authorize the Chairman to sign, subject to Legal review and sign-off, the Resolution Designating the Chief Correctional Officer of Escambia County Florida, pursuant to Florida Statutes 951.06, to designate Michael A. Tidwell as the Chief Correctional Officer for Escambia County.

BACKGROUND:

Michael A. Tidwell, who has over 47 years of experience in the corrections field, began his employment on January 26, 2015, with the Board of County Commissioners as the Director of Corrections. As Chief Correctional Officer, he will report directly to the County Administrator and shall see that all the rules and regulations prescribed by the law and the Board are fully observed and complied with.

The Resolution is being reviewed by Kristin Hual, Assistant County Attorney.

Florida Statutes 951.06 allows for the designation of a Chief Correctional Officer as the County Commission deems necessary.
