RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning Escambia County Fire Station Flood Repairs - Stephan Hall, Management and Budget Services Interim Department Director

That the Board award Contract PD 14-15.034, Escambia County Fire Station Flood Repairs, to R.D. Ward Construction Company., Inc., for the base bid amount of $147,000, plus alternates 1, 2, 3, and 4, in the amounts of $15,900, $104,900, $7,500, and $10,000, respectively, for a total amount of $285,300.

BACKGROUND:
Several Fire Stations were damaged during the flood of 2014. After careful assessment of the damage and the development of plans for repairs and renovation, the project was put out for bids.     The following stations are scheduled for this work:  20 North Navy Blvd. - Station 16, 8634 Pensacola Blvd.- Station 6, 1700 North W Street (North & South) - Station 17.  The proceeds from the insurance claim will pay for this work.
 
The Office of Purchasing advertised the solicitation in the Pensacola News Journal on February 9, 2015. Eighteen firms were notified on and seven bids were received. R D Ward Construction Company, Inc. is the lowest, responsive bidder.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:
This recommendation is in compliance with the Escambia County FL, Code of Ordinance, Chapter 46, Article II, Purchases and Contracts.The Office of Purchasing advertised the solicitation on February 2, 2015. Eighteen firms were notified on February 2, 2015. Seven bids were received on March 3, 2015.  R D Ward Construction Company, Inc. is the lowest, responsive bidder.
 
IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:
The Office of Purchasing will issue the Contract and Purchase Order.
