RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning Reimbursement for Services Rendered to Escambia County Animal Control by Panhandle Equine Rescue - Jack R. Brown, County Administrator

That the Board approve the issuance of a Purchase Order in the amount of $10,000, to Panhandle Equine Rescue (PER), for reimbursement for services rendered to Escambia County Animal Control.

BACKGROUND:

Panhandle Equine Rescue has provided services to Escambia County Animal Control by providing hay or feed, finding homes for neglected horses, adopting several neglected and abused horses as well as covering veterinarian expenses. All these services were provided on a volunteer bases.

PER conducts educational outreach to local horse owners as a means to reduce and eliminate animal abuse and neglect.

In October 2014 PER approached Escambia County requesting assistance.

Escambia County Environmental Enforcement/Animal Control agrees to reimburse PER for services rendered to include cost of hay, feed, veterinarian expenses and transportation cost. Individual salaries will not be reimbursed.
