5:33 p.m. Public Hearing to Consider an Ordinance to Repeal Section 99-1 - 99-2 and Dissolve the Escambia County Area Transit Authority as a Dependent Special District
Recommendation: That the Board adopt, and authorize the Chairman to sign, an Ordinance to repeal Volume I, Chapter 99, Section 99-1 through 99-2 of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances and dissolve the Escambia County Area Transit Authority as a Dependent Special District of Escambia County for the purpose of providing public transportation.
BACKGROUND:
The proposed Ordinance will repeal Ordinance 2018-8, codified as Volume I, Chapter 99, Section 99-1 through 99-2 of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances, which established the Escambia County Area Transit Authority as a Dependent Special District of Escambia County and formally adopted the Charter of the Escambia County Area Transit Authority. The purpose, powers, functions, and duties for which the District was created will be assumed by the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners.
