Recommendation Concerning CareerSource Escarosa's Vision and Mission presented by Sheryl Rehberg, Chief Executive Officer - Tonya Gant, Neighborhood & Human Services Department Director
That the Board acknowledge the presentation of the Vision and Mission of CareerSource Escarosa, which includes their scope of work, duties and responsibilities, programs, funding sources, and community partners.
BACKGROUND:
In July of 2014, President Obama signed into law the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) which replaced the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. This measure was to provide a renewed commitment to workforce development and is designed to increase opportunities, decrease barriers to employment, and invests in education and career preparation. One primary focus is on the economic growth in the US to enhance global competitiveness as a country. The CareerSource Escarosa Board of Directors serves as the local governing board for workforce development and job training activities as approved by CareerSource Florida and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). This Board serves the deomographic area of Region One, comprised of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. Federal law requires that an agreement be entered into between local workforce investment boards and local elected officials designating fiscal oversight, board appointments, agreement to the entity as the local workforce investment board and the one stop services oversight.
