Recommendation Concerning a Resolution Supporting the Central Time Zone within the Florida Panhandle
At the request of Commissioner Grover Robinson, IV, that the Board adopt a Resolution supporting that the Legislature of the State of Florida maintain the Central Time Zone as currently designated within the State.
BACKGROUND:
At its regular Board of County Commissioners meeting, February 1, 2018, Commissioner Grover Robinson, IV, direct the County Attorney's Office to adopt a Resolution supporting maintenance the Central Time Zone. The State of Florida and Escambia County, Florida have an obligation to act to serve the best interests, health, safety, and welfare of all citizens and residents within its jurisdiction. The State of Florida is currently split between Eastern and Central Time Zones. The Florida Panhandle, along the border of the State of Alabama and including Escambia County, is located within the Central Time Zone. It will benefit the citizens of Escambia County and of the State of Florida and further serve the convenience of commerce for the areas currently designated within the Central Time Zone remain as such.
