Recommendation Concerning the Memorandum of Agreement between the United States Coast Guard and Escambia County Public Safety Department - Michael D. Weaver, Public Safety Department Director
That the Board take the following action concerning the Memorandum of Agreement between the United States Coast Guard and Escambia County Public Safety Department:
A. Approve the Memorandum of Agreement to establish the terms and conditions under which Escambia County, through the Communications Division of the Department of Public Safety and the United States Coast Guard that will define the National Interoperability Field Guide (NIFOG) radio channels and Incident Command Procedure that will be used during a joint mission.; and
B. Authorize Department Director, Michael D. Weaver to execute the Agreement on behalf of the County.
BACKGROUND:
The United States Coast Guard and the Department of Public Safety seek effective communication and cooperation during search and rescue cases within Escambia County. This Memorandum of Agreement defines the National Interoperability Field Operations Guide (NIFOG) radio channels, and Incident Command procedures that will be used during a joint mission and outlines processes and procedures for effective communication and cooperation during search and rescue operations.

Kristin Hual, Assistant County Attorney, reviewed the Memorandum of Agreement and approved it as to form and legal sufficiency.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:
The Board of County Commissioners must approve all Memorandums of Agreements.
IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:
Implementation of the Memorandum of Agreement will be coordinated through he Department's Communications Division.
