RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning Approval of Standard Contract for Reimbursement of Training Expenses.

That the Board take the following action:

A. Approve the Standard Contract for Reimbursement of Training Expenses; and

B. Authorize the Interim County Administrator or designee to sign the Contracts as may be necessary without further Board action.

BACKGROUND:

Effective October 1, 2013, the County shall assume responsibilty for the operation of the Escambia County Jail. Thereafter, the County may employ detention deputy trainees with continued employment as a full-time detention deputy contingent upon completing the necessary training and receiving state certification from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Per the terms of the Standard Contract for Reimbursement of Training Expenses, the County shall agree to fund the necessary training of said employee of which the employee shall agree to continue employment as a full-time detention deputy at the Escambia County Jail for at least two years following completion of the training program or otherwise be subject to an obligation to reimburse the County.
