RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning the Award of a Purchase Order for a Kohler Generator for the Supervisor of Elections Department - Cassie Boatwright, Director, Facilities Management, and Paul Nobles, Purchasing Manager, Office of Purchasing

That the Board take the following action:

A. Authorize the use of Sourcewell (formerly NJPA) Agreement 120617-KOH for this purchase, which provides the County with a 30% discount from the suggested retail price; and

B. Award and authorize the County Administrator to sign a Purchase Order, in excess of $25,000, to TAW Power Systems, Inc., in the amount of $91,816.71, for one Kohler Generator Model 175REOZT4 EPA Certified Diesel Generator Set.

BACKGROUND:
The Escambia County Supervisor of Elections Office is designated as critical infrastructure by the Department of Homeland Security. It also conducts elections during the height (August and November) of hurricane season. The facility at 3201 West Navy Boulevard houses the central tabulation equipment, ballots, computers, voting equipment, documents with permanent retention and is home to other essential election functions. The equipment and computers have requirements for temperature and humidity control. This facility also serves as backup facility for the administration offices (COOP) for the Supervisor of Elections Office and needs to be fully functional during any storm or critical period where a power outage may be eminent.

This Recommendation is in compliance with the Code of Ordinances of Escambia County, FL 1999, Chapter 46, Finance, Article II, Purchases and Contracts.
IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:
The Office of Purchasing will issue the Purchase Order.
