RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning the Award of a Purchase Order for Radio Equipment for the Public Safety Water Safety Department - Jason Rogers, Public Safety Department Director

That the Board take the following action:

A. Authorize the County to utilize the NASPO (National Association of State Procurement Officials) Valuepoint Contract 06913, in accordance with Escambia County, Florida, Code of Ordinances, Chapter 46, Article II, Section 44-46, Application; Exemptions; and Section 46-64, Board approval; and

B. Award and authorize the County Administrator to sign a Purchase Order for the purchase of radio equipment for the Public Safety/Water Safety Department of Escambia County, Florida, to Motorola Solutions, Inc., in the amount of $23,454.70.

BACKGROUND:
Water Safety Division manages approximately 30 consecutive miles of public beaches within Escambia County, Florida. They also manage the beaches and associated lifeguard services within the Pensacola Beach area, and the NPS manages the beaches and associated lifeguard services within the adjoining Fort Pickens, Santa Rosa Areas, and the Perdido Key Area.

The new mobile radios are a match of current equipment that will be utilized by the lifeguards. These radios are essential equipment and the purchase is in line with equipment replacement and sustainment objectives. The purchase from Motorola Solutions, Inc., was organized by a representative of CES Team One Communications, Inc., in Pensacola, Florida, and is the sole local distributor for Motorola products.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:
The Office of Purchasing will issue the Purchase Order.
