RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Approval of $5,000 for the Showalter Classic - Commissioner Steven Barry, District 5

That the Board approve $5,000 to be funded from Commissioner Steven Barry's discretionary funds, for the Showalter Classic (Softball/Baseball Doubleheader), scheduled for October 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Showalter Park in Century, Florida.

BACKGROUND:

The Showalter Classic will be held on October 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Showalter Park in Century, Florida. This is the first year that the Pensaacola State College Foundation and the Pensacola Sports Association will be raising money for the Showalter Scholarship Fund, which will help with GED testing and other career opportunities for the Community. The funds will be distributed through the Pensacola Sports Association.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

The Board approved $50,000 in the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Budget for each Commissioner to use as discretionary money.
