RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning a Resolution Designating the Chief Correctional Officer of Escambia County - Jack R. Brown, County Administrator

That the Board adopt the attached Resolution (R2018-96) designating William R. Powell as the Chief Correctional Officer of Escambia County, pursuant to Section 951.06, Florida Statutes, effective 12:01 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2018, and ratify the Chairman's signature.

BACKGROUND:

William R. Powell, who has over 20 years of experience in the corrections field, began his employment with the Board of County Commissioners on September 1, 2018 as the Director of Corrections. As Chief Correctional Officer, Mr. Powell will report directly to Jack Brown, County Administrator, and Matthew Coughlin, Assistant County Administrator. Mr. Powell shall see that all the rules and regulations prescribed by the law and the Board are fully observed and complied with.

The Resolution (R2018-96) was prepared and approved by Alison P. Rogers, County Attorney.

Section 951.06, Florida Statutes, provides for the designation of a Chief Correctional Officer as the Board of County Commissioners deem necessary.
