RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning Appointments by the Pensacola City Council to the Escambia-Pensacola Human Relations Commission - Matt Coughlin, Interim County Administrator

That the Board acknowledge for the Official Record the Pensacola City Council's appointments of Patrick Boudreaux, Ron Helms, and Joyce Hopson to the Escambia-Pensacola Human Relations Commission, and the appointment of the City Council's ex officio, Jewel Cannada-Wynn, all to serve a two-year term, expiring June 1, 2021.

BACKGROUND:

The Escambia-Pensacola Human Relations Commission has been re-established under County Ordinance 2019-13 as approved by the Board on March 7, 2019, to provide the community with assistance in reviewing and resolving employment and fair housing discrimination complaints and improve community relations for persons in Escambia County. Under the new EPHRC structure, one County Commissioner must be appointed for a two year term to perform ex officio functions of an additional office and four citizens must be appointed by the Board to serve as members for a two year term. The City will separately appoint one ex officio member from the City Council plus three general members for two year terms.
