Recommendation Concerning an Amended 51% Letter Regarding the Federal Fiscal Year 2017 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program-State Solicitation - William R. Powell, Director of Corrections

That the Board take the following action concerning an amended 51% letter regarding the Federal Fiscal Year 2017 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program-State Solicitation:

A. Approve the amended 51% letter of support regarding grant fund distribution; and

B. Authorize the Chairman to execute the amended 51% letter of support.

[The funds are made available through the Federal FY 2017 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program-State Solicitation for the period beginning October 1, 2017 and terminating September 30, 2018. There is no cost to the County.]

BACKGROUND:

$20,000 in available funding has been identified related to Federal FY 2017 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program-State Solicitation. In order to utilize the identified funds, an amended 51% letter of support must be obtained. The amended letter of support distributes the grant funds as follows:

Pensacola Police Department-$69,302
Escambia County Community Corrections-$50,000

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

The funds are made available through the Federal FY 2017 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program-State Solicitation for the period beginning October 1, 2017 and terminating September 30, 2018.
