Recommendation Concerning Utilization of the First of Two Possible One-Year Renewals Provided for in the Agreement for Inmate Dental Examinations, PD 16-17.060 - William Richard Powell, Director of Corrections

That the Board approve the utilization of the first of two possible one-year renewal periods provided for under Section 2 of the Agreement for Inmate Dental Examinations, PD 16-17.060.

BACKGROUND:

On August 14, 2017, the County issued a Request for Proposal (PD 16-17.060) seeking a contractor to provide dental examinations at the Escambia County Jail. On December 6, 2017, the County entered into an agreement with Dental Power International. Section 2 of the respective agreement outlines the term of the agreement. The term is listed as twelve (12) months with an option to renew for two (2) successive one (1) year periods. It is the request of the Corrections Department that we utilize the first of the two additional one-year renewals for the period of December 6, 2018 to December 5, 2019.

Funding: Fund 001, General Fund; Cost Center 290402

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

Kristin Hual, Assistant County Attorney, reviewed the initial agreement. The utilization of the renewal period as provided for in section 2 of the agreement does not require an amendment to the agreement.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

The Board has indicated that they wish to review those agreements in which the County indicates the desire to exercise a renewal period beyond the initial term of the agreement.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Upon approval, the Corrections Department will work with the vendors to obtain those services covered by the specified agreements when necessary.
