RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Miscellaneous Appropriation Agreement with the United Way of Escambia County, Inc., (Community Investments to Improve Lives) for Fiscal Year 2018/2019 for Outside Agencies - Tonya Gant, Director, Department of Neighborhood & Human Services

That the Board take the following action concerning the Fiscal Year 2018/2019 Miscellaneous Appropriations Agreement with the United Way of Escambia County, Inc., (Community Investments to Improve Lives):
 
A. Approve the Miscellaneous Appropriations Agreement to be paid from the General Fund (001), Cost Center 370102, in the amount of $90,725;

B. Authorize the Chairman to sign the Agreement and all other necessary documents; and

C. Authorize the approval of the necessary Purchase Order.

BACKGROUND:
The County makes payments in support of the activities of certain Outside Agencies approved by the Board. In order to recognize these Contractual Agreements and establish the source documents by which payment can be made, Board approval of these Agreements is necessary.
 
The United Way of Escambia County, Inc., will coordinate the provision of essential services that effectively leverage local resources and community partnerships to create positive changes in the education, health and financial stability of Escambia County citizens through the Community Investment Program for Escambia County.
 
The Community Investment Program is a comprehensive community investment process through which United Way of Escambia County, Inc. volunteers review applications, tour nonprofit agencies, and listen to oral presentations to determine where County resources are invested in collaborative work that benefits local citizenry. The United Way of Escambia County, Inc., manages the process; and nonprofit agencies are required to demonstrate positive outcomes on a quarterly basis, that prove they are having impacts in education, health, and financial stability.
 
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
Funding in the amount of $90,725 is allocated in the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Budget.
