RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Mutual Aid Agreement Between Lifeguard Ambulance Service of Florida, LLC, and Escambia County - Michael D. Weaver, Public Safety Department Director

That the Board take the following action regarding the Emergency Medical Services Mutual Aid Agreement, for emergency medical assistance between Lifeguard Ambulance Service, LLC, and Escambia County:

A. Approve the Emergency Medical Services Mutual Aid Agreement, for emergency medical assistance between Lifeguard Ambulance Service, LLC, and Escambia County that is effective on the date of execution by the last-signing party and that shall continue indefinitely unless terminated; and

B. Authorize the County Administrator to execute the Emergency Medical Services Mutual Aid Agreement.

BACKGROUND:

Escambia County Emergency Medical Services (ECEMS) desires to enter into a mutual aid agreement with Lifeguard Ambulance Service, LLC in the event that the demand for emergency medical services equipment and personnel may be high. The agreement will allow recipricol emergency aid and assistance in case of of emergencies too extensive to be dealt with unassisted.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

None

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

Kristin Hual, Assistant County Attorney, has reviewed and approved this Agreement as to form and legal sufficiency.

PERSONNEL:

Implementation of this Emergency Medical Services Mutual Aid Agreement will be accomplished with existing personnel. No additional personnel are required.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

Board of County Commissioner policies require all Agreements to be approved by it.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Leon Salter, Deputy Chief of Operations of the Division of Emergency Medical Services, will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of this Emergency Medical Services Mutual Aid Agreement.
