RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning Supplemental Budget Amendment #171 - Stephan Hall, Budget Manager, Management and Budget Services

That the Board adopt the Resolution approving Supplemental Budget Amendment #171, General Fund (001) and Transportation Trust Fund (175) in the amount of $35,619, to recognize a transfer of three vacant correction officer positions from the Detention Budget to the Road Prison Budget, and to appropriate these funds for the creation of a female road crew to better utilize our inmate population for road maintenance activities at the Road Prison. The funding associated with this transfer covers the remaining two months of Fiscal Year 2017/2018.

BACKGROUND:

The funding associated with 3 vacant correction officer positions currently budgeted in the General Fund Detention Budget is being transfered to the Transtporation Trust Fund Road Prison Budget for the remaining 2 months of the current fiscal year. These new Road Correction Officer positions will facilitate the creation of an all female road crew to better utilize our inmate population and increase services for road maintanence activities in Escambia County.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

This amendment will increase Fund 175 and decrease Fund 001 by $35,619.

PERSONNEL:

There are no additional positions being added to the FY 2017/18 Budget, a transfer of 3 vacant positions from Detention to the Road Prison within the Corrections Department.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

Board policy requires increases and decreases in revenues to be approved by the Board.
