RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning a Temporary License Agreement with A&B Electric Company, Inc., for Use of County-Owned Property for Staging Electrical Equipment for Jail Construction - Stephan Hall, Budget Manager, Management and Budget Services

That the Board take the following action concerning a Temporary License Agreement with A&B Electric Company, Inc., for use of County-owned property for staging electrical equipment for jail construction:

A. Approve the Temporary License Agreement with A&B Electric Company, Inc., for use of County-owned property for staging electrical equipment for jail construction, to allow A&B Electric Company, Inc., to pay $400 rent, plus the applicable rental tax (currently 7.3%), for a total of $429.20 per unit, per month, for use of the units located at:  3030 North Pace Boulevard and 3050 North Pace Boulevard, on a month-to-month basis until such time as construction is completed, or the shopping center is set for demolition, whichever occurs first; and

B. Authorize the Chairman to sign the Agreement, without further action of the Board.
BACKGROUND:
Escambia County has contracted with Whitesell-Green/ Caddell JV, LLC for construction of the new Escambia County Correctional Facility (hereinafter referred to as the "Project"). 

A&B Electric Company, Inc. has contracted with Whitesell-Green/Caddell JV, LLC to serve as the electrical subcontractor for the Project.

A&B Electric Company, Inc. has requested to rent two vacant units located on county-owned property formerly known as the McDonald Shopping Center for the purpose of storage of materials to be used in construction of the new jail.  A&B Electric Company has agreed to pay $400 plus the applicable rental tax (currently 7.3%) for a total of $429.20 per unit per month for units 3030 North Pace Blvd and 3050 North Pace Blvd on a month-to-month basis, until such time that construction is completed, or the shopping center is set for demolition, whichever occurs first.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
Rental payments are deposited in the General Fund [Fund:  001, Revenue Account:  362010].
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:
The County Attorney's Office has prepared and approved the Temporary License Agreement as to form and legal sufficiency.
