RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Scheduling of a Public Hearing to Consider Amending Chapter 10, Article I, Section 10-25 of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances Relating to Pensacola Beach Dog Park.

That the Board authorize the scheduling of a Public Hearing on August 16, 2018, at 5:33 p.m. to consider amending Chapter 10, Article I, Section 10-25 of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances regarding the Pensacola Beach Dog Park to extend "Park East" by 100 feet to the east and 100 feet to the west.

BACKGROUND:

The Santa Rosa Island Authority has requested an amendment to Section 10-25 of the Escambia County Code of Ordinances regarding the Pensacola Beach Dog Park to extend “Park East” by 100 feet to the east and 100 feet to the west. A proposed clarification of the sunset provision in Section 10-25 is also included.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

The proposed Ordinance was drafted by Assistant County Attorney Bobbie Ellis-Wiggins and will be advertised in the Pensacola News Journal on August 4, 2018. At the Board of County Commissioners meeting of June 21, 2018, the Board voted to extend the dog park by 100 feet in each direction; the provision will sunset on July 6, 2019.
