Recommendation Concerning Budget Amendment #195 - Stephan Hall, Budget Manager, Management and Budget Services

That the Board approve Budget Amendment #195, Other Grants and Projects (110), in the amount of $12,604, to recognize a reallocation of operating funds to salaries to cover personnel expenses associated with the water quality monitoring of Jones Creek and Bayou Chico required by the Jones Creek East Stream Grant.

BACKGROUND:

The State of Florida DEP Grant Agreement No. G0281 was entered into on January 7, 2010 between Escambia County Board of County Commissioners and Florida Department of Environmental Protection. It provided funding to improve water quality in Jones Creek and Bayou Chico, both of which are 303(d) listed impaired waterbodies. Funding has been used to construct a natural stream channel design restoration project and a wetland stormwater treatment in the Jones Creek/Bayou Chico watershed. The Grant work plan requires post construction water quality monitoring and allows for payment of personnel salaries. Post construction monitoring is being performed by full-time County employees whose salaries are budgeted under other cost centers. These funds will allow for reclassification of salary expenses for hours associated with monitoring. No additional positions are being added to the budget.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

This amendment will increase personnel funds in Fund 110 by $12,604.
