RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning the Chief Budget Officer - Janice P. Gilley, County Administrator

That the Board confirm the hiring of a Chief Budget Officer pending successful interviews and negotiations prior to the July 2 meeting. Due to COVID-19, this position has been difficult to fill. This position is currently budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2019-2020.
BACKGROUND:
The position of Chief Budget Officer commenced advertising on March 9, 2020, and is considered open until filled due to issues related to COVID-19. Telephone interviews were conducted in June by the County Administrator and the Assistant County Administrator. Next, candidates made video presentations to the department directors. The process will conclude with an interview and negotiations with the County Administrator.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
Position is budgeted for Fiscal Year 2019-2020.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:
F.S. 125.74 (1) (k) Select, employ, and supervise all personnel and fill all vacancies, positions, or employment under the jurisdiction of the Board, However, the employment of all department heads shall require confirmation by the Board of County Commissioners.
IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:
Upon Board approval, the County Administrator's Office will coordinate with the Human Resources Department and prepare the necessary paperwork.
