Recommendation Concerning the Donation of Radios to GreaterGood.org's Rescue Rebuild Program - John A. Robinson, Animal Services Division Manager

That the Board adopt, and authorize the Chairman to sign, the Resolution authorizing the donation of radios to GreaterGood.org, a not-for-profit corporation, for Rescue Rebuild, a shelter renovation program that recruits volunteers from all over the country to help shelters in need. Rescue Rebuild completed a renovation for the Escambia County Animal Shelter in February 2018.

BACKGROUND:

Radios were donated to Animal Services from Public Safety. Animal Services staff found the equipment to be cumbersome, and difficult to hear over the kennel noise. For that reason, Animal Services acquired push-to-talk flip phones that do not have phone calling capabilities. The push-to-talk devices vibrate when it is difficult to hear in the kennel areas, and easily fit in uniform pockets. The Animal Services staff no longer has a need for radios, and would like to donate the radio devices with the County's approval.

During their renovation of the Escambia County Animal Shelter in February 2018, GreaterGood's Rescue Rebuild team streamlined their operations and renovation activities utilizing the shelter's radios. Rescue Rebuild hoped to incorporate radio communication in planning and execution efforts going forward. Since the County no longer has a use for these radios, Animal Services resolves to donate these items to GreaterGood.org's Rescue Rebuild on behalf of the County.

Assistant County Attorney Kia Johnson approved the Resolution as to form and legal sufficiency.

This Board action is in accordance with Sections 274.06 and 125.38, Florida Statutes.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Coordinate donation with Animal Services Administrative Supervisor, Dawn Harris.
