RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning the Letter of Agreement with Lakeview Center for Baker Act Services - Amy Lovoy, Acting County Administrator
That the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the Letter of Agreement between Escambia County and Lakeview Center Inc., with an effective date of October 1, 2018, specifying Escambia County's portion of responsibility for inpatient services, inpatient physician services, and transportation costs for State-funded clients admitted for psychiatric care under the Baker Act.
[Funding Source: General Fund 001, Public Social Services Cost Center 370102 - approx. $550,000]
BACKGROUND:
Lakeview is a not-for-profit organization whose charitable purpose includes the provision of mental health services to Escambia County residents, often on an inpatient basis via the Behaviorial Medicine Unit and the Acute Stabilization Unit, for their State-Funded clients, i.e. clients who have no payment source and meet income eligibilty requirements as determined by the State of Florida. By statute, the County is obligated to pay a portion of the costs for these clients. This Letter of Agreement codifies this portion and an already long-standing arrangement.
BUDGETARY IMPACT:
Funding is available in General Fund 001 in the Public Social Services cost center 370102 in the amount of $550,000.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:
The Letter of Agreement was prepared and approved as to Legal form and sufficiency by Senior Assistant County Attorney Kristin Hual.
