RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning Release of Lease Agreement No. 4269 

That the Board take the following action:
 
A.        Approve the Release of Lease Agreement No. 4269 with the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida relating to a 6.52 acre parcel located on Old Highway 90/State Road 10; and
 
B.        Authorize the Chairman to execute the Release.
BACKGROUND:
On April 19, 2000, Escambia County previously entered into a Lease Agreement with the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida, Lease Number 4269, relating to a 6.52 acre parcel located on Old Highway 90/State Road 10.  The term of the lease was for a period of fifty (50) years ending on April 18, 2050, unless earlier terminated. 
 
County staff advised that the leased property was no longer needed and recommended terminating the lease by requesting a release of the lease and surrendering the property to the State.  The County requested a release of the lease from the Bureau of Public Land Administration, Division of State Lands, Department of Environmental Protection (“Division”) by submitting an Application For the Use of State Owned Uplands with the Division along with a Resolution requesting a release.  The State has approved the application and granted the County’s request for a full release of the Agreement.
