Recommendation Concerning Utilization of the First of Two Possible Twelve-Month Renewal Periods Provided for in the Agreement for Psychiatry Services, PD 17-18.003 - William R. Powell, Director of Corrections

That the Board approve the utilization of the first of two possible twelve-month renewal periods provided for under Section 2 of PD 17-18.003, Agreement for Psychiatry Services between Escambia County, Florida and LocumTenens.com, LLC.

BACKGROUND:

On January 2, 2018, the County issued an Invitation to Bidders (PD17-18.003) seeking a licensed provider to provide psychiatry services with a "telemed" delivery option for inmates in the custody of the Escambia County Department of Corrections. On February 1, 2018, one submission was received regarding the solicitation and on May 9, 2018, the County entered into an agreement with LocumTenens.com, LLC for the referenced services. Section 2 of the respective agreement outlines the term of the agreement. The term is listed as one year with two possible twelve-month extensions if mutually agreed upon by both parties. It is the request of the Corrections Department that we utilize the first of the two possible twelve-month terms for the period of May 9, 2019 to May 8, 2020.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

Funding: Fund 001, General Fund; Cost Center 290402.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS/SIGN-OFF:

Kristin Hual, Senior Assistant County Attorney, reviewed the initial agreement. The utilization of the renewal as provided for in section 2 of the agreement does not require an amendment to the agreement.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

The Board has indicated that they wish to review those agreements in which the County indicates the desire to exercise the option to utilize renewal periods beyond the initial term of the agreement.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Upon approval, the Corrections Department will work with the vendor to ensure the continued provision of services as outlined in the agreement.
