Recommendation Concerning a Change Order in Excess of $50,000 to the Walton County Sheriff's Office for Housing of Inmates from the Escambia County Jail - Jack Brown, County Administrator

That the Board approve and authorize the County Administrator to execute the following Change Order 5, in excess of $50,000, adding funds for inmate housing of Escambia County Jail inmates in Walton County:

BACKGROUND:

In April 2014, historic flooding and a subsequent explosion left the Escambia County Jail's Central Booking and Detention Facility unusable. Since the Escambia County Main Jail did not possess the capacity needed to house all of the inmates that were in custody, a Memorandum of Agreement between Escambia County and Walton County Sheriff's Office was entered into for the housing of inmates. The Corrections Department like to request a change order in the amount of $4,666,900 to cover the fees related to housing inmates in Walton County for a period of 12 months. This request is based on the current Memorandum of Agreement Between Escambia County and The Walton County Sheriff's Office that became effective on October 1, 2016.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

Funding is available in the Internal Service Fund 501; Building Cost Center 140836; Object Code 53401.

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:

This recommendation is in compliance with the provisions of the Code of Ordinances of Escambia County, Florida, Chapter 46, Finance Article II, Purchase and Contracts.

IMPLEMENTATION/COORDINATION:

Upon approval of this recommendation, a change order will be submitted to the Office of Purchasing for processing.
