RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Termination of a Lease Agreement with the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida - Joy D. Blackmon, P.E., Public Works Department Director

That the Board take the following action concerning termination of the Lease Agreement with the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida, for property located on Mobile Highway (Parcel ID 11-1S-32-1000-000-011):

A. Authorize the County Administrator to prepare written notice to request termination of the Lease Agreement as stated in Section 28 of the Lease Agreement; and

B. Authorize the Chairman to execute any documents necessary to complete the termination of the Lease Agreement.

BACKGROUND:

The County and the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida entered into this Lease Agreement on April 19, 2000. At that time, the County Road Division was anticipating utilizing this location as a satellite office for crews working on that side of the County, to help lessen drive times to the Cantonment office. The property was never used and a more central location has since been set up. There are no improvements or structures on the property, currently, that the County is interested in retaining.

Per Section 28 of the Lease Agreement, it states that if the County no longer needs this property, the County must give written notification six months prior to the release of any or all of the lease premises.
