RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the Purchase Order for PD 16-17.007, Innerarity Island Sewer Material Purchase - Claudia Simmons, Manager, Office of Purchasing

That the Board approve the issuance of and authorize the County Administrator to sign a Purchase Order to Morrow Water Technologies, Inc., in the amount of $249,500, for the purchase of 100 Grinder Pump Stations for the Innerarity Island Sewer Project, PD 16-17.007, at a unit cost of $2,495.

BACKGROUND:

The Invitation to Bid PD16-17.007 advertised in the Pensacola News Journal on Monday, October 24. One bid was received on Tuesday, November 15, 2016.

These materials (grinder pump stations) are for the upgrade of the Innerarity Island sewer system. The Innerarity Island water and sewer system has been turned over to the County as the receiver of the system as the Innerarity Point Development Corporation has gone bankrupt. ECUA has agreed to accept the water and sewer system after certain repairs are made as recommend by the their engineering consultant. These grinder pump station have been identified by ECUA as materials which could be pre-purchased.

The materials are being pre-purchased ahead of a sewer construction project because we are trying to encumber an initial DEP grant by the end of the calendar year. Our grant consultant has advise us this would allow securing a second grant in the most expeditious manner. The next grant will include a construction contract to make repairs to the sewer system.
