RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation Concerning the 2019 Thomson Reuters Westlaw Print Contract

That the Board take the following action:

A. Approve the attached 2019 Thomson Reuters Westlaw Print Contact; and

B. Authorize the County Attorney to sign the attached contract; and

C. Ratify the County Attorney's signature on the attached contract.

BACKGROUND:

The County Attorney's Office purchases certian legal reference books from Thomson Reuters, the company that also provides our Westlaw online research. Historically, the contract for these purchases has been in the name of the Escambia County Attorney. Our office has not been charged tax on these purchases, based on our provision of the County's tax exempt form, which is in the name of "Escambia County Board of County Commissioners." Recently, the County Attorney's Office was informed by Thomson Reuters that for their audit purposes, in order to continue receiving the tax exemption it is necessary that the name on our Thomson Reuters account matches the name on the tax exemption form.

Due to time restraints, it was necessary that the County Attorney sign the 2019-2020 print contract with Thomson Reuters.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

The monthly payments will come out of the County Attorney's operating budget.
