RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation Concerning State Law Enforcement Trust Fund - Henrique Dias, Chief Financial Officer, Escambia County Sheriff's Office Finance Division
 
That the Board approve the following allocations of Law Enforcement Trust (LET) Funds, per the requirements of F.S. 932.7055(5), for Outside Agency partners in Escambia County for Fiscal Year 2018/2019:
 
A. Escambia High School Softball, in the amount of $500;
 
B. AMIkids Pensacola, Inc., in the amount of $10,000;

C. FavorHouse of Northwest Florida, Inc., in the amount of $14,000;

D. Pensacola Chapter, Inc., Military Officers Association of America, in the amount of $4,000;

E. LAMP, Inc., in the amount of $2,000;

F. Tate High School Cheerleading, in the amount of $1,000;

G. Pensacola Recreational Fisherman's Association, in the amount of $1,000;

H. Perdido Bay Youth Sports Association Girls Fast Pitch Softball, in the amount of $500;

I. Northwest Florida Guardian ad Litem Foundation, Inc., in the amount of $5,000;

J. Society of St. Vincent de Paul, in the amount of $3,000;

K. Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, in the amount of $6,000; and

L. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida, in the amount of $25,000.
 
Upon approval of these funding allocations the Sheriff’s Office will process all appropriate paperwork and submit for payment from LET Funds to the Escambia Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller.

BACKGROUND:
Per F.S. 932.7055(5), certain law enforcement activities generate a revenue stream that must be appropriated into the Law Enforcement Trust to be expended by the Sheriff. These funds support various law enforcement related activities in Escambia County.

FavorHouse of Northwest Florida Inc. - $14,000
Pensacola Chapter Inc. Military Officers Association of America - $4,000

Pensacola Recreational Fisherman's Association - $1,000
Perdido Bay Youth Sports Association Girls Fast Pitch Softball - $500
Northwest Florida Guadian ad Litem Foundation Inc. - $5,000
Society of St. Vincent de Paul - $3,000
Institute for Human and Machine Cognition - $6,000
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida - $25,000

POLICY/REQUIREMENT FOR BOARD ACTION:
These funds may be expended upon request by the sheriff to the board of county commissioners or by the chief of police to the governing body of the municipality, accompanied by a written certification that the request complies with the provisions of this subsection, and only upon appropriation to the sheriff’s office or police department by the board of county commissioners or the governing body of the municipality.
